Solution for Appearance Inspection of Glossy Three-Dimensional Workpieces
Achieves inspection of foreign objects and surface irregularities on three-dimensional, glossy workpieces that are difficult to inspect using conventional imaging methods, through a combination of custom lighting and photometric stereo. Compatible with moving objects.
Features
- Segmented ring lights struggle to evenly illuminate three-dimensional shapes.
This solution overcomes that challenge by emphasizing foreign objects and uneven areas on the workpiece, delivering clear and accurate imaging. - It is possible to inspect unevenness and dirt by one light
- Can be customized according to the requirements
- Compatible with moving objects Compatible with moving objects

- The size of the light can be customized according to the requirements.
- Custom lights with emission surfaces of 300×300 mm, 200×200 mm, and 150×150 mm can be manufactured in the same shape as the standard LFXV Series flat dome lights.

Reflections of the ring light on the surface cannot be canceled.
Series

Reflections on the surface can be canceled, and only uneven parts can be emphasized.

Only the areas where the ring light is reflected appear bright, making inspection difficult

Bright and uniform imaging makes it possible to detect dirt

Application Example for Moving Workpieces
LFXV-RGB × Prism-Based Color Camera
By separating the captured image into individual RGB color channels, it is possible to obtain three directions of information from a single image. This enables the acquisition of the images required for photometric stereo in just one shot.

LFXV-DV × Quad Shutter Control
By combining photometric stereo using the segmented flat dome light LFXV-DV with Sony’s IMX900 image sensor featuring Quad Shutter Control, high-quality images with minimal motion blur can be acquired even for moving workpieces.
Four different exposure times and exposure start timings can be configured within a single frame. Synchronization with the illumination enables ultra-high-speed acquisition of four images captured under different conditions.
